Religious and cultural background is important when trying to live with each other successfully. People are often led by prejudice and incomplete knowledge in their way of dealing with others. The Forum aims at bringing youths with and without a migration background into contact and offering more well-founded knowledge as well as a platform for learning to respect and to accept each other. Our approach is comprehensive in that we do not only teach facts but also create an experience of religion that touches all senses. We offer a wide variety of workshops, project days, inter-religious trainings, theater performances and excursions on inter-religious, political and multi-cultural topics. The Forum for Inter-religious Education is a joint project by the church district of Berlin Stadtmitte and Die Wille gGmbH youth center. Our partners include the Jewish Museum, Bildungsbausteine gegen Antisemitismus (Educational Elements on Anti-Semitism), various memorial sites, parishes, companies, schools, public authorities and education facilities as well as self-managed youth groups inform about the inter-religious work in the framework of the German department of the WCRP, to be aware of each other, understanding each other and dialogue with each other Dr. Im Schellenkönig 61, 70184 Stuttgart, Germany works for a culture of nonviolence: a culture of unity, believing that every human has the same value and the same right to live, a culture of solidarity, honoring the fundamental rights of every human being, a culture of dialog, respecting divergent opinions and seeking common solutions, a culture of trust, overcoming military hostility and replacing it with civil means of conflict resolution talks on interesting topics intended for members of all faith communities. On 18 January 1968, by decree of President of the Republic, Giuseppe Saragat, which was created entity moral foundation of the Bell of the Fallen. The purpose of the Foundation particular focus is education of new generations, culture of peace, non-violence and human rights. They are also connencted with a peace university (http://www.iupip.unimondo.org/) IFIIE is non-denominational both in scope and constitution. Its Advisory Board is constituted by professionals and researchers belonging to various religions and cultures.Their role is to provide guidance and support in several matters including curricula implementation, the selection and evaluation of applicants, as well as the promotion of academic symposia to promote academic research and education around interreligious and intercultural dialogue. To this end, it grants fellowships to individuals belonging mainly to Judaism, Christianity and Islam who demonstrate an authentic interest in deepening their knowledge and understanding of others' religious beliefs. In this manner, IFIIE strives to promote an awareness of the common values lying behind diversity the Three Faiths Forum has focused on improving understanding between the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities and their engagement with wider society. This has been done on a national level in the UK, engaging the leaders of the three communities through seminars and event planning, and at the grass-roots level in developing local and professional groups. In 2006 the Forum embarked on its Youth & Education programme. Then in 2007 it launched its first mentoring programme. These programmes for young people are now a key focus of the organisation. In 2008, the Forum launched a new branch in the Middle East

Aims
The European capital of culture is a golden opportunity to show off Europe's cultural richness and diversity, and all the ties which link us together as Europeans. The event is so attractive that Europe's cities vie with each other fiercely for the honour of bearing the title. Cities wishing to become European capital of culture must prepare a cultural programme that meets rather specific criteria: it must reflect the European character of the event and involve the participation of the people who live there. The European flavour can be seen in the themes chosen and the artists and cultural organisers from different countries cooperating to put on the event. The programme must also have a lasting and sustainable impact on the city's long-term cultural, economic and social development

The title "European Capital of Culture" was designed to help bring European citizens closer together. This was the idea underlying its launch in June 1985 by the Council of Ministers of the European Union on the initiative of Melina Mercouri. Owing to the many visitors it has attracted, the title has since gone from strength to strength in Europe. This event is different from other cultural events by its size and its visibility. It requires a high standard of artistic quality. Since 1985, more than 30 cities have been designated European Capitals of Culture, from Stockholm to Genoa, Athens to Glasgow, and Cracow to Porto. Over the years, this event has evolved without losing sight of its primary objective: to highlight the richness and diversity of European cultures and the features they share, promote greater mutual acquaintance between European citizens, foster a feeling of European citizenship. three objectives and strands: 1: Support for cultural actions:This strand enables a wide range of cultural organisations coming from various countries to cooperate on cultural and artistic projects. This strand includes three sub-categories: a) Multi-annual co-operation projects, running over a period of three to five years. b) Co-operation measures, running over a maximum period of two years. c) Special measures, which relate to high-profile actions of considerable scale and scope. The support to European Capitals of Culture falls under this sub-strand. 2:Support for cultural bodies:This strand supports cultural bodies at European level. They encourage exchanges between cultural organisations in different European countries, identify the European artistic community’s needs, represent the sector in dealing with EU institutions, participate in the public debate on cultural issues, and act as European cultural ambassadors.3: Support for analysis and dissemination activities: This strand supports analysis and dissemination activities, which help to raise awareness of the Culture programme and its activities in various ways. The first focus is on providing support for analyses in the field of cultural co-operation and policy development. The second is by supporting cultural contact points which have been established to ensure the effective grassroots dissemination of practical and targeted information on the programme locally in all participating countries. The third focus is on supporting the collection and dissemination of information, so that cultural operators can make use of the output and results of previous EU-funded projects
Activites
The third sub-category refers to high-profile actions of substantial scale and scope. They should make an impact on European citizens and help to promote a sense of European identity. These actions are supposed to raise awareness and appreciation among citizens of the richness of Europe's cultural diversity and to contribute to intercultural dialogue. The European Capitals of Culture are also supported within this sub-strand. This has grown, over two decades, into one of Europe’s major cultural events.A further aspect of this sub-strand is the award of prizes to celebrate artistic talent among young Europeans

This initiative can be incorporated into any relevant Community action when the latter's objectives and management structure are compatible, an information and promotion campaign at Community level, and national-level localisation; cooperation with the private sector and the production of suitable tools and resources; a series of surveys and studies for the long-term evaluation and monitoring of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, planned for the end of 2009 at the latest; an 80% grant for a limited number of symbolic actions at Community level to raise awareness, particularly among young people, of the objectives of the European Year; the co-financing of actions at national level which have a strong European dimension and are eligible for Community aid of up to 50% of the total cost

The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue is a initiative under the European Commision
Participants/ composition
The general objectives focus on raising awareness of, and promoting, intercultural dialogue for the benefit of European citizens and all those living in the European Union. It is not just one sector which is envisaged in the initiative for intercultural dialogue - all sectors of society are concerned. All European citizens and all people living in the EU are invited to take part in this dialogue. The European Year is aimed mainly at the Member States of the European Union. However, complementarity between the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue and all external strands of the initiative to promote intercultural dialogue will be ensured. One example would be the initiatives undertaken with the Balkan countries or with European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) partner countries
